About this wine

Named after the sundial erected in the vineyard in 1842, Wehlener Sonnenuhr is the most famous vineyard in the Mosel. J.J Prüm owns five hectares of this precious vineyard. Extremely steep with optimal south-south west exposure, it yields fragrantly floral wines with ripe stone fruit aromas, underlying slately minerality and wonderful depth of flavour and structure. The Auslese wines are typically more reticent when young showing vivid crystalline citrus fruit and a backbone of tingling minerally acidity that will carry it gracefully for decades.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Joh Jos Prum
Joh. Jos. Prüm is an esteemed German wine producer based in Bernkastel-Wehlen, in the Mosel region. The Prüm family have been growing grapes and making wines in Wehlen for over 400 years. Founded in 1911 by Johann Josef Prüm, the estate was managed from the 1920’s onwards by Johan’s son Sebastian who established the estate’s wine styles and reputation for quality during the 1930s and 1940s. Although Sebastian died in 1969, the family continues to run the business to this day. The estate has 14 acres of some of the finest Mosel vineyards including Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Bernkasteler Lay, Bernkasteler Badstube and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr sites. Only Riesling is grown and harvested to produce prized Prädikat wines. The wines of JJ Prüm have a reputation for being elegant and racy with intense flavour, exquisite balance and great longevity. The estate is a member of the prestigious Großer Ring Verband Deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitätsweingüter (VDP).
